Mars has always captivated the human imagination since the ancient Greeks looked upon a wandering red star in the night sky. Eventually, through technologies such as telescopes, we were able to observe the cratered red surface of one of our closest planetary neighbors and were inspired to learn more about it.
Now, with the advent of new technology such as rockets and long-term space habitation, it is feasible to send humans to Mars for both scientific and colonization purposes.
